A fantastic effort by the Robins South West League team on Sunday night saw them draw 2-2 with last years premiers Boyanup. Robins nearly secured a win in the final seconds of the game with a breakaway opportunity that missed the goal by inches. It was a hard fought game and the young Robins side stood up to the physical game play from Boyanup extremely well.
Paula Thompson broke through the Boyanup defense to score the first goal of the game, but Boyanup managed to equalise before half time and the score was 1-1 at the break. Anna Roberts gave Robins the lead again in the second half with an excellent hit from a short corner, but again Boyanup leveled the game despite the fighting effort of the Robins defense.
The final minutes of the game were an intense affair where both teams had chances to come away with a win. In the final minute of the game Chloe Carter broke through into the Boyanup circle and delivered a great pass eliminating the goalie, to Lauren Clarke who despite her best effort just missed putting the ball over the goal-line.
Overall it was a decisive team effort from Robins, with every player playing at their best.
